In the heavenly kingdom of baroque

One of the oldest culture and holiday routes in Germany

860 kilometres, four routes and 55 baroque experience stations: the Upper Swabian Baroque Route was launched in 1966 as one of the first ever culture and holiday routes and today is one of Germany’s oldest themed routes. A trip along the Upper Swabian Baroque Route gives an ever-changing view of the sights along the route as well as of the baroque lifestyle: monasteries, abbeys and churches, magnificent castles and aristocratic residences are just as much a part of the route as the distinctive baroque countryside.

But the impressive buildings are just part of the overall experience; it’s also the living customs and traditions, the sound of the baroque organ, delicacies from the baroque cuisine and the monastic art of beer brewing, as well as the quite special way of life in Upper Swabia. Be inspired and plan your trip into a bygone BAROQUE era!
