The Upper Swabia-Allgäu holiday region is regarded as the birthplace of the motorhome, as it was here in south-west Germany that the pioneers of motorhome travel turned their sketches and ideas into reality nearly 80 years ago.
Carthago in Aulendorf, Hymer in Bad Waldsee and Dethleffs in Isny in the Allgäu have not abandoned their local roots and, with their modern production and distribution facilities, are today regarded as some of the most important commercial enterprises in the region and among the European market leaders in their sector. Touring is now a well-established concept in Upper Swabia-Allgäu. Nearly all the tourist towns and villages have created centrally located pitches for motorhomes, which are ideal starting points for exploring the region.
Four different routes guide you to the region's most beautiful spots. The Family Route in Upper Swabia-Allgäu is a brand new route. It connects exciting and family-friendly destinations, campsites and motorhome sites in a suggested itinerary for families with children up to 12 years of age.
