Built around 1730, this three-winged castle with its 365 windows formerly belonged to Zwiefalten Abbey and served as the abbots’ summer residence. Today, the stately Mochental Castle in Ehingen-Kirchen has been the headquarters of the Ewald Karl Schrade Gallery since 1985.
Covering an area of 2,500 m², the gallery hosts regularly changing exhibitions ranging from Classical Modernism to the present day. The Baroque architecture of the castle and the picturesque surroundings make a visit here a special cultural experience.
The Schrade Gallery offers all-round (artistic) enjoyment: in the bookshop and the popular Art Café, you’ll find informative and entertaining material, whilst also experiencing tranquillity, conviviality and good conversation.
Mochental Castle also houses a small broom museum with exhibits from all over the world.
