Henselmann Art Museum
The collection of the sculptor and honorary citizen of Laiz, Josef Henselmann, is presented in impressive rooms in the former infirmary in Sigmaringen - Laiz.
Selected works such as sculptures, sculptures, portraits, as well as models and large photo panels show a small cross-section of his long artistic life.
He retained his own style and made liberal use of wood, logs, stone, bronze and ceramics. He characterised numerous churches with his works - such as the high altars of Passau and Augsburg - but also impressive fountains and sculptures delight people in public places throughout southern Germany. This is also the case in Sigmaringen, Laiz and the surrounding area. His empathetic ‘understanding’ of people is expressed in his portraits. The collection is enriched by pictures of his wife Marianne, née Euler, who accompanied him throughout his life as a painter.
The old 18th century building has been lovingly restored by his daughter Dr Margret and husband Prof. Dr Lothar Henselmann to give his parents' life's work a worthy place.
The Henselmann Art Museum opens its doors to visitors once a month. Guided tours can also be booked on request at any time outside opening hours. You can find the next opening date in our calendar of events.
