Neues Schloss Kißlegg
New Kißlegg Palace
Baroque gem
No time left greater traces in our region than the Baroque period. To this day, the “Baroque triangle” of church, feudal courtyard (Walserhaus) and the new castle characterize the Kißlegger townscape and thus represent the baroque life of the nobility, bourgeoisie and clergy in a confined space.
Beschreibung
An 8 ha English park opens up in front of the new castle. Small town gardens in the town center, such as the palace and town hall gardens and the historic farm garden at the Walserhaus, complete the historic baroque round.
Kißlegg is rightly located on the Upper Swabian Baroque Street and was strongly influenced by baroque life.
The best way to travel to Kißlegg is by train, then walk straight out of the train station, on shady, winding park paths, past ponds, meadows and old trees through the romantic palace park, where the white, glowing New Palace sits enthroned at the southern end of the park.
The New Kißlegg Castle
The three-storey New Castle was built in 1721-27 according to the design by the Füssen master builder Johann Georg Fischer.
Two floors with richly stuccoed baroque rooms and precious frescoes, the eight Sybille figures by the baroque artist Joseph Anton Feuchtmayer, the palace chapel, the local museum and art exhibitions that change annually promise an eventful visit for the whole family.
